members, with a donation requested for the band alone.
Non-members may pay to attend or may join the organization
at that time & attend free.

TCDC, INC was formed in 2004,when the various members of the
local folk dance groups decided to join together.

TRADiN': TRAditional Dance in Norfolk
A Division of Tidewater Community Dance Council, Inc.

TRADiN' generally sponsors dances in Norfolk.

TRADiN' was formed in 1992,when the Virginia Beach International Folk Dancers group,
led by Ben Allbrandt, decided to sponsor a Contra Dance Series in Norfolk.
This mature Contra dance series is still going strong!

CDVA: Community Dance of Virginia
A Division of Tidewater Community Dance Council, Inc.

Formed in 2001, CDVA generally sponsors dances in Newport News.

At the May 14, 2005 Newport News Contra dance I smiled at the children, teenagers,
college students and young adults with lots of piercings, middle-agers
and retirees all dancing together!
We have several large families that are "regulars" with us.
I just love an inclusive community dance!

FOAM: Friends of Appalachian Music

FOAM generally sponsors dances in Norge., which is just west of Willaimsburg.

Picture a lovely wood-floored community center built in 1907.
Picture it filled with 3 lines of dancers, nearly a third being students at William and Mary University.
Picture a wonderful, enthusiastic and talented band with many gifted musicians - FOAM.
This is a rare contra dance series that is sponsored by the band itself!

VBIFD: Virginia Beach International Folk Dancers
A Division of Tidewater Community Dance Council, Inc.

VBIFD generally sponsors dances in Virginia Beach.

Founded about 30 years ago, the group is committed to teaching
and learning dances from around the world.
They dance to recorded music from eastern Europe, Scandinavia, the Middle
East, and other cultures with rich and interesting dance heritages.
Dances are couple, line, and circle -- no partner needed!

BID: British Isles Dancers
A Division of Tidewater Community Dance Council, Inc.

BID generally sponsors dances in Norfolk.

This is a social dance group of English Country and Scottish Dancing.
These are partner dances to recorded music but you don't need to bring a
partner with you, which is also true for all the dances listed on this page.
